Bhopal The National Law Institute University was established by Act No. 41 of the State Legislature of Madhya Pradesh in 1997. The university has earned the front-line status of an institution imparting quality Legal education, conducting research in cutting-edge areas of law, and organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs. It has been able to carve out a niche for itself in academic excellence and placement of its students. The university now stands as one of the most reputed legal institutions and has been rated consistently as one of the best law universities in the country.

The NLIU Cell for Law and Technology (CLT) was established at the National Law Institute University in October 2019. The Cell was established with the aim to create a platform to raise awareness about the interface of technology and law. The depiction of the societal effects of technology in science fiction and other media had a huge impact on the creation of the Cell. When it comes to the intricate interactions between technology and legal policy, the Cell wants to be ahead of the curve. It has been constantly taking efforts in engaging in a range of activities to maintain pace with its vision.

The Mentorship Project (TMP)

The Mentorship Project (TMP) is a pro bono initiative to connect law students, law professionals and aspirants with expert mentors from various disciplines, to achieve their career goals.

The goal of the mentorship program is to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for learning and growth. The program seeks to empower individuals to develop new skills, build on existing skills, and advance their careers. By connecting mentees with mentors who have relevant experience and expertise, the program aims to help individuals gain the knowledge, insights, and networks they need to succeed. Overall, the mission of a mentorship program is to provide individuals with the tools and resources they need to achieve their full potential. By connecting mentees with mentors and creating a supportive and inclusive environment for learning and growth.

About The Competition

The NLIU-CLT Article Writing Competition provides a unique platform for scholars and law students to explore and analyse the dynamic landscape of technology, law, and digital rights. The competition invites participants to dissect the profound impact of technology on our lives and the evolving legal considerations that accompany it. Further, the competition offers more than just monetary incentives, it provides a platform for legal enlightenment and academic discourse.

Note: Contributions from students, academicians, and professionals must be original and unpublished. The submissions are expected to be of contemporary social relevance and must demonstrate high standards of scholarship

The Details

01 Theme
The submission could be about any technological development or any aspect of the technology law regime.
02 Registration
 Authors shall be required to pay an amount of INR 200 for single author entries and INR 350 for coauthored entries (Maximum 2 authors are permissible for co-authored entries). Registrations have to be made through Google form only (The same can be accessed here).
03 Eligibilty
Students and professionals may participate either individually or in a team consisting of two (2) members. Participation is open to all undergraduate and masters students as well as industry professionals pursuing law and related subjects only

Prizes and Awards
We are delighted to announce a host of exciting prizes and opportunities for participants in our upcoming competition. These include:

Up to INR 15,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. The top ten articles will be published on the NLIU-CLT's website, providing a valuable platform for showcasing your work to a wider audience. In addition, five articles will be selected for publication on The Mentorship Project website.

1st runners-up: Professor or associate professor of NLIU, Bhopal.
2nd runners-up: The Mentorship Project (TMP)

The top 20 participants will receive Certificates of Merit, recognizing their outstanding achievements


1. The manuscripts need to be submitted through Google form only (The same can be accessed here). Submissions made by any other means shall not be considered.
2. Authors are requested to not put their names anywhere in the main manuscript. All entries should be submitted in .doc or .docx format.
3. Co-authorship of a maximum of two persons is permitted.
4. Submission and publication of manuscripts that purposefully target or intend to harm the religious, socio-cultural, and/or political sentiments of any reasonable reader are strictly prohibited. The submissions must strictly be limited to legal analysis of the covered topics.
5. The author(s) bear sole responsibility for the accuracy of facts, opinions or views stated in the submitted Manuscript.
6. The language used must not be unparliamentary, abusive or result in disrepute of any third person.
7. The Editorial Board does not accept plagiarized content and in case of gross plagiarism found in the contents of the submitted manuscript, the manuscript shall be subject to rejection.
8. Similarity check for the Blog is done using the Turnitin software. A maximum of 5% of similarity is permissible for the manuscript to pass the first stage of technical review.
9. Paraphrasing as well as verbatim usage of content without appropriate citation of authorities shall qualify as plagiarism. Any instance of plagiarism in the abstractor conclusion of the manuscript is aground for immediate disqualification of the manuscript.
10. All moral rights shall vest with the author(s).
11. Manuscripts not in conformity with these guidelines may be rejected at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board whether before or after undergoing the procedure of blind peer-review. The Editorial Board reserves the right to send the manuscripts back to the authors for any modification(s) at any stage, in the event of non-conformity with any of the submission guidelines.


1. The Word limit for each article is 1500 words.
2. The relevant sources should be hyperlinked within the article itself. Sources of which no link can be provided must be mentioned as endnotes.
3. Citations, if required, must strictly conform to the standards laid down in the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (4th ed., 2012).
Note: The Editorial Board may, in its absolute discretion, waive any of the above rules or amend the process. In case of any dispute or ambiguity, the decision of the Editorial Board shall be final and binding. 


The submissions made must be original and devoid of any plagiarized content. All submissions shall only proceed to content evaluation after clearing a strict and thorough plagiarism check to ensure the originality of the publication.

Copyright for the submitted articles will be retained by CLT. However, CLT will not be responsible for any infringement issues related to the articles. 

Declaration of Generative AIin Writing

The guidance only refers to the writing process, and not to the use ofAI tools to analyse anddraw insights fromdata as part of the research process. Where the authors use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, authors should only use these technologies to improvereadabilityandlanguage.

Applying the technology should be done with human oversight and control, and authors should carefully review and edit the result, as AI can generate authoritativesounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete or biased.
